Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a manual and holistic therapy. Blockages, tensions and dysfunctions are detected in the body and treated with the hands. This also activates the body's natural self-healing powers and treats various functional disorders without medication.
An osteopathic therapy can treat the following clinical pictures: back pain, pain in the knee, elbow and shoulder pain, heartburn, intestinal diseases, digestive problems, migraines, tinnitus, menstrual pain or menopausal symptoms and much more. Read about the 3 pillars of osteopathic therapy.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy includes various areas of movement therapy, manual lymphatic drainage and manual pain therapy. The physiotherapist supports the healing and rehabilitation of all joints through active and passive movements. In addition, manual lymph drainage supports the removal of fluids (swellings) through the lymphatic system after fractures and operations.
Physiotherapy also helps you to loosen muscle tension (neck, shoulder, back) and in the follow-up treatment after operations (e.g. for artificial hip or knee joints).
Special sport treatments
After hard and intense training, the muscles become acidified and tend to shorten. This has a negative effect for the next training session, or even for the competition. Thanks to my long experience with professional athletes, such as runners from 100 to 170 km, known triathletes and other high performance athletes, I offer especially for athletes, osteopathic sports massages with detoxifying lymphatic drainage. In addition, the vegetative nervous system is stimulated and, if necessary, we work on a perfect posture.
Chiropractic
The chiropractor corrects subluxations of the small joints of the musculoskeletal system—such as the facet joints of the vertebrae, the iliosacral joints, the craniovertebral joints, rib joints, and others—by means of so-called “adjustments,” returning them to their original position. The primary goal is to restore the flow of our spinal fluid, known as Liquor Spinalis, which originates in the brain and is essential for supplying our central nervous system.
Osteoporosis is generally considered a contraindication for chiropractic treatment. In such cases, we offer a special gentle form of chiropractic care called the Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT). This method does not rely on traditional adjustments and focuses more on treating the fascial system.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE TREATMENT
- Eat your last meal at least 1, preferably 2 hours before the treatment.
- Avoid alcohol, drugs, and painkillers to allow for accurate feedback on the effects of the treatment.
- Wear sturdy shoes (no sandals or flip-flops).
- Protect yourself from wind and cold with appropriate clothing, especially in the evening. Cold can cause muscle tension and negatively affect the treatment results.
- Please come by car or taxi, not by bicycle, motorcycle, or e-scooter. Due to poor road conditions on Gran Canaria, vibrations and jolts—especially in poorly suspended vehicles—can reduce the effectiveness of the treatment or even worsen your condition.
- Remove any navel piercings before the treatment, as they may interfere with the energy flow in the abdominal area and negatively affect digestion and the lower back.
- Avoid twisting your spine or making sudden movements. Keep your posture upright—especially the pelvis—and do not sit or stand with crossed legs.
- No pulling, pushing, or lifting (if lifting is absolutely necessary, do so with your legs, never with your back!).
- Avoid any kind of physical activity, fitness training, or golf for the next 24 hours, as this may undo the adjustments or worsen your condition.
- Ideally, take a 10–20 minute walk after the treatment and later enjoy a warm bath at home.
